How to go live on Boon using your smartphone
Here's a step by step tutorial to go live on Boon using your smartphone.
Here’s the step by step overview:
Download our Livestream checklist. Although we’ve recapped the most important steps below, the checklist will help make sure you have all the small and big details top of mind before you go live.
Go to speedtest.net to test your internet connection, most importantly your upload speed. We recommend that you have at least 10 MBPS, but 5 MBPS is the minimum requirement.
Make sure your devices are fully charged. If you can leave your phone or laptop in the charger during the event, even better. There’s no bigger buzzkill than your event ending suddenly due to a dead phone!
Now that you’ve checked your internet connection and your devices are juiced up, you’re ready to go. Start by downloading our app and logging in to your Boon profile on two different devices. Use your phone for streaming, and a computer or tablet to interact with your audience.
Once you’re logged in, find your event on the dashboard and click on it.
Now you’re on the ‘Event Overview’ page - press the “Live manager” button at the bottom.
Once you get into the “Live Manager” you can start chatting with your audience - we recommend welcoming people with a friendly message or question in the chat to get people excited and spark some engagement.
Now, here’s a few final things to check before you go live:
Make sure your setup is solid (for example lighting is okay, camera angle is stable, sound is clear, etc)
Make sure to turn on “Do Not Disturb” on your device so you don’t get any unwelcome interruptions during your event, like your Grandma calling on facetime to invite you over for dinner. Not now grandma!
When you’re just a few moments away from going live, wait for the timer to go down to zero and press “Go Live” on your phone.
Now you’re ready to go live! Enjoy your event. And most importantly, have fun!
Once your event is over, press “End” to close the session on your computer or tablet.
30 minutes after the event, you and your audience will be able to replay the recording. The chat function is always available, so don’t worry if you can’t keep up with all the comments during the event - you’ll have plenty of time to catch up afterwards.
Whew! Now take a deep breath, give yourself a pat on the back and congratulate yourself on your first event! It all gets easier from here, we promise!
